Been grinding hard to transition from Photoshop to Procreate. These are some of my sketches and paintings done over the past year.
Lighting study from imagination.
Sun bleached landscape. Started as a study of the deserts of Arizona, but i felt like it really needed some giant mushrooms and an even bigger ominous skull.
iPad painting done in procreate awhile back in my hometown in Seldovia, Alaska. This is from life, walking down my parents driveway.
Practice form life - Was parked along the side of the road in alaska sleeping and woke up to paint this sunset that happened around 1am at night.
very speedy painting, just trying to capture a mood. A lot of paintings of mine start like this before i add lighting and i figured i'd leave this one somewhat unlit.
Early morning in the mycelium. I literally can never paint enough mushroom forests.
Study from 2001 space odyssey.
Quick painting of a forest grotto
Painting partially from life - inspired by the forests in Alaska. There was a windstorm in my hometown and it knocked over half the forest on the island (no exaggeration).
Its hard to explain but i just find the criscrossed trees everywhere neat. :3
As one does i sat down and decided to try and make a tree with a gelatinous canopy somewhere between flora and fauna. I think i was looking at pictures of frog eggs when i got the idea?
Quick color study
I want to vacation here. I think it was cold and rainy outside and i wanted to paint an alien vacation beach.
Witches getting ready to do some witchin'.
This one started from life, i have fields of dry grass everywhere around where i live. But i finished it and felt like it needed something, so giant floating jellyfish was the order of the day.
Tree getting blasted by wind and color.
Portal being opened.
Sun dappled forest.
Quick painting but i liked the idea of a cloudy forest.
Inktober entry that ended up getting painted for the theme word "Deer"
Daisy pathway in the sky. I love sky environments in game... like mushroom forests, sky environments are another of my favorites.
Ink sketches! I like doing these. To me they're great for honing compositional skills.
a variation on the previous sketch. Spin on the concept of a wizard's tower.
Same as the last, a spin on a wizard's tower. Wanted it a bit foreboding and alien feeling.
Inktober sketch "mustache'
Forest threshold. Again, more B&W compositional practice,
